FELLOWSHIPS
Kara Jewett was awarded a grant to pursue Orton Gillingham Associate Level Coursework to expand her capacity as a reading teacher to students at Bridge.(Awarded 2021-22)
Shawn Wood was awarded a grant to complete the Wilson Reading System training and practicum to help students with reading challenges become successful and confident learners.(Awarded 2021-22)
Deborah Side, a music teacher, will attend a masters workshop in Ghana that combines an international methodology of teaching music with a focus on building students’ understanding of African music and culture through games, songs, dances, and instrumental pieces. (Awarded 2015-16)
PROGRAM GRANTS
Geodes Decodable Texts. Jessica Caverly was awarded a Program Grant to purchase 2 sets of the Geodes Level K, 2 sets of Geodes Level 1, and 2 sets of Geodes Level 2 Libraries to support first grade students during the reading workshop in a way that aligns with the Fundations phonics curriculum. (Awarded 2022-23)
Innovation Station. Bridge will create a space where students can invent, tinker, and explore, learning and practicing such social-emotional learning skills as attentive listening, problem- solving, compromising, and perseverance that are needed to work effectively as a team to design and invent an original product. SCHOOL COMMUNITY GRANTS
Bridge School was awarded a School Community Grant to purchase materials to enhance the sensory garden that was started in 2021. The garden is used weekly for a therapy based garden club as well as to support students with sensory breaks and mindfulness throughout the school day. (Awarded 2022-23)
Bridge School was awarded a School Community Grant for flexible furniture, comfortable seating and Novel Engineering materials to enhance and innovate Bridge's library. (Awarded 2021-22)
Bridge School will address social-emotional learning goals by (a) installing two sensory movement pathways of structured activities that allow students to expend extra energy and then refocus on academic learning, (b) posting positive messages in bathrooms that promote a growth mindset when facing academic and social challenges, and (c) engaging staff and 5th grade students in creating individual tiles that will form a collective community mural.
